About the event
The Grind City Cares: Race for Prenatal Awareness was founded out of a deeply personal journey. Our founders welcomed twins, one of whom spent 80 days in the NICU due to challenges with feeding and swallowing. Those months were filled with emotional, mental, and logistical struggles—endless hospital visits, navigating care, and balancing family needs while siblings were unable to enter the NICU.
This experience opened their eyes to the wide range of challenges families face during the perinatal period, from birth complications and infant loss to the mental, emotional, and physical health struggles of both babies and mothers.
The race was created to honor those experiences and to raise awareness, support, and resources for families walking similar paths. Every step taken in this event represents strength, resilience, and hope for healthier beginnings.
